Darling Harbour Chinese Gardens

E-mail Print

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! I had a great nye and first day of 2009. NYE was spent at Bobby's house in his pool and using his bbq. Had tons of fun just hanging out and celebrating with some amazing friends.

Today Paul, Joy and I went to the Chinese 'friendship' garden in Darling Harbour to do a small photoshoot. The venue is small and costs $6 to get in. There was a cooling breeze and lots of shade which helped us escape from the 35 degree heat for awhile. As a place to visit it's actually quite good. Great areas just to sit in the shade and hang out. A nice getaway from the concrete jungle of Sydney City with a relaxing atmosphere. Photography wise I feel there is some potential for some good photos. I think Joy was bored though. I managed to grab a few nice photos from my time there. I would say there are better places to spend your photography time in Sydney but this place isn't worthless.

As usual more photo's after the jump and even more in the gallery (in the Sydney City section)! Enjoy =D

Christmas Spectacular 2008

E-mail Print

This year's Christmas Spectacular was the Grinch! It was a bit lower budget than previous years but it went down really well and was a whole lot of fun. The festival was great too with free rides for everyone. The weather was a bit of a scorcher but the umbrella's out on the grass really helped. Val's birthday celebration at the Outback Steakhouse was fun too. Everyone had a great afternoon and evening. The christmas season is a great season.

A few photo's here, more after the jump and even more in the gallery.

St Mary's Cathedral

E-mail Print

To be honest I'd never really been to St Mary's Cathedral before. Sure I've passed by times but I've never really taken notice of it or thought of going inside to have a peek. Well Isaac and I went down one Sunday awhile ago to check it out and take some photos.

As you may expect the interior is quite fantastic. It's probably not much compared to the cathedral's in and around europe but the stained glass, high ceiling and stone arches are still amazing. During our time there people passed in and out constantly. Some came to pray and meditate while others came for photographs or just to have a look/browse around.

We managed to grab a few good photos. The low-light conditions were difficult to work in but there was sufficient light for some nice ambient shots. The ornaments and architecture are very detailed pieces of work and the dim lighting gives the whole interior an almost surreal kind of effect. Being situated in the middle of the city it feels like you step into an entirely new world. Unfortunately the crypt is closed on weekends and we were not able to check it out.

Head over to the gallery to check out more pics!

My 23rd Birthday!

E-mail Print

Seriously a massive thanks to everyone who made my birthday this year a special and memorable one! It was my first birthday at Westpac bank which was really quite fun. They had a cake and everything and it was great! Of course mum baked me a cake too which was no doubt the best. She baked what we like to call 'Uncle Victor's' cake, named after the uncle who invented the recipe of course. It's a cake that looks ugly but tastes amazing.

Updates

E-mail Print

Well it's been awhile since I updated this site. I had a few problems with JoomGallery in that I could not delete any photos after uploading! Turns out when JoomGallery uploads files it sets strange permissions effectively disallowing anyone to alter the files except the host! Well I've been testing out Expose gallery and I have to say the flash interface is quite nice. I'll have to creatively break down the galleries into sub-headings as the browser only allows a linear scroll showing a single line of thumbnails. But at least I can manage the photo's as I want.

There are quite a few updates I want to put on the site so keep checking back! I'll be re-uploading all my galleries over time which for many means I may have to re-edit them as well. Hopefully Expose will last me awhile and I won't have to be switching gallery plugin's any time soon.

I will have a ton of updates real soon so please keep checking back! Check out the new gallery in the meantime. Remember you can email me at  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
